Being a point release, it contains various hot fixes and accessibility compliance updates. - Improved installation utility The Lotus Connector for SAP uses an improved InstallShield utility. The ISMP installer is version 5.0.2 based, bringing the installer into IBM usability compliance. - Updated platform and application version support Support for the Linux platform has been added. The Lotus Connector for SAP version 1.7.1 can be used in conjunction with the following: - LEI 6.x and/or DECS on Domino 6.0 and greater - LC LSX on Domino 6.0 and greater - ESB 3.0.4 and 3.0.5 - Updated SAP R/3 version support with caveat The Lotus Connector for SAP R/3 version 1.7.1 supports SAP 4.0 and later, including SAP 4.7 Enterprise. See the "SAP R/3 version Support" entry in section B below. - Updates and hot fixes All hot fixes and resolved SPRs prior to this release have been incorporated into this release. Key fixes are listed in the What's Been Fixed section of this readme. - New default behavior in MTA object server and notes.ini Setting the new notes.ini parameter $ObjServerIgnoreMultiplePROGIDs to 1 suppresses the warning that appears when the object server finds more than one instance of itself registered with SAP. - Limitation on iSeries platform for Lotus Connector for SAP R/3, Domino MTA for R/3 and Domino Access to SAP Business Workflow Due to changes made by SAP which have desupported the EBCDIC RFCSDK with which the SAP Connector was developed, we have been forced to port the SAP connector to ASCII. This unfortunately breaks proper character conversions between international and multi-byte characters and the Domino Connector API data types. We anticipate a fix from SAP by mid-2004. Until that time, you can contact IBM support and, if your SAP release level is 4.6D or less (not 4.7 Enterprise or greater), we will provide a temporary solution to you. The documentation set, including readme.txt, is available for online viewing and download at the LDD http://www.lotus.com/doc for the product title Lotus Connector for SAP R/3. LEI and DECS documentation sets are also located at this Web site. B) System Requirements This release of the Lotus Connector for SAP R/3 is supported by Domino 6.0 and greater (including LEI 6.0 and greater). For platform support specific to your Domino version, please see the configuration and support documentation provided with your product. For example, if you are using LEI 6.5, see the platform support information in the LEI installation guide and readme.txt at the LDD in the Documentation library for the Enterprise Integrator product at http://www.lotus.com/doc. ** SAP R/3 Version Support ** The Lotus Connector for SAP R/3 version 1.7.1 supports SAP 4.0 and later, including SAP 4.7 Enterprise. The Domino MTA for R/3 product supports SAP 4.0B - 4.6D. IT DOES NOT SUPPORT SAP 4.7 Enterprise. The Domino MTA for R/3 component is supported with all releases still supported by SAP up to but not including SAP 4.7 Enterprise. Users of SAP 4.7 Enterprise should use SMTP for email connectivity with Lotus Domino. The Domino Access to SAP Business Workflow product supports SAP 4.0B and later, including SAP 4.7 Enterprise. ** Lotus Software Version Support ** The Lotus Connector for SAP R/3 Version 1.7.1 is available for use with the Domino 6.0 or greater server. The Connector requires the following: - Notes 6.0 or greater client with Domino 6.0 or greater server In this configuration, the LEI Release 6.0 and greater product stream is supported. The LC LSX and DECS versions that ship with Domino 6.0 or greater are also supported. This configuration uses Lotus .dcx Connector files. - Client libraries are not required by either the Connector or the Domino MTA for R/3. Client libraries are only required when using Domino Access to SAP Business Workflow. In that scenario, client libraries (SAPGUI) must be installed on the Notes client. SAP client libraries need not be installed on the LEI server. C) Install and Uninstall Considerations - If you receive a message during Connector install or uninstall instructing you to reboot, please do so. Adverse effects may otherwise occur. - If you a performing an upgrade and are asked to uninstall first, and should that uninstall process require a reboot, you must reboot before re-running the installation program. Failure to do so could lead to the nsap.lcx or nsap.dcx files being deleted from your system after your next reboot. You should reboot after uninstall and after install/re-install to avoid this undesirable behavior. - On the Linux platform, an error may occur during install as described below. If this occurs, re-run the LEI installer to correct the problem and properly install. Error message is "Failed to install DECS/LEI forms." Contents of the adminupdater.err in your tmp directory is: ADMINUPDATE is running ... Error: Unable to open database '/tmp/ismp001/sapadD6.ntf'. File modified at operating-system level - Except for the Domino Access to SAP Business Workflow application, a SAP client is not required; the Lotus Connector for SAP is self-contained. - For SAP licensing questions, contact your SAP representative. D) Installing the IBM Lotus Connector for SAP R/3 - Before installing to an iSeries platform, you must do the following to establish the correct access rights in the Notes ID file. The ID file must share its password with other Notes-based programs. - The Notes client must be running when the iSeries installer runs. - The install process is described fully in the Lotus Connector for SAP R/3 Installation Guide supplied with your Connector and in Web-browseable and download form at http://www.lotus.com/doc on the Lotus Connector for SAP R/3 product page. E) Uninstalling the Lotus Connector for SAP R/3 - The uninstall process is described fully in the Lotus Connector for SAP R/3 Installation Guide supplied with your Connector and in Web-browseable form at http://www.lotus.com/doc on the Lotus Connector for SAP R/3 product page. - The uninstall process does not remove the Lotus Connector for SAP R/3 from the iSeries platform. This allows a single Windows system to install to multiple iSeries Domino systems. F) Operational Considerations and Known Issues - The Lotus Domino Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) for SAP R/3 is supported by SAP 4.6D or earlier but is not supported by SAP 4.7 Enterprise. For SAP 4.7, SMTP should be used. G) Documentation Errata - The "Software Requirements and Considerations" section of the installation guide incorrectly states that the SAP client must be installed; this is untrue. The following statement should be removed: If using the Connector in conjunction with LEI, client libraries of the external systems to be accessed (SAP R/3 and any connection types that you want to transfer to and from) must be installed on the LEI server and the Domino server. Note: This has been corrected in the "FIX PACK" version of the documentation set. - There may be instances of LEI or DECS screen images that are out of date with the latest release of those products. See the LEI and/or DECS documentation set available at the LDD Documentation library for the most current versions of that related documentation at http://www.lotus.com/ldd. H) What's Been Fixed in Version 1.7.1 The following issues have been resolved in this release. > IBM Lotus Connector for SAP R/3 < The hotfix required to enable the connector to work with SAP 4.7.E and greater has been incorporated into this release of the connector. The hotfix provided to ignore SAP tables with the RFC_TABLE ABAP data type 'h' has been incorporated into this release of the connector. This data type is not available in the METADATA of a given RFC or BAPI. A problem converting SAP NUMC to LCFLOATS has been corrected. A problem with data corruption with Numeric data types when the RFC_READ_TABLE feature is used has been corrected. > Lotus Domino Mail Transfer Agent for SAP R/3 < Any non-standard ASCII character in a mail subject line would result in no message body arriving in Domino. This has been corrected. > Domino Access to SAP Business Workflow < Domino Access to SAP Business Workflow is now supported in SAP 4.7 Enterprise. Should an SAP password expire, the periodic agent will stop attempting to download workitems from SAP until the user, through Notes, updates their SAP password. This will prevent repeated failed logon attempts from locking the SAP account. I) What's Been Fixed in Version 1.7.1 FIX PACK The following issues have been resolved in this FIX PACK > IBM Lotus Connector for SAP R/3 < SAP UNICODE is now fully functional in conjunction with SAP Support Note 759577. The RFC_READ_TABLE was using incorrect data type sizes and causing numeric corruption. This issue has been resolved. A string of 8 spaces can be a default value for SAP type DATS (date). The standard default had been a string of 8 zeros. Fetch operations could crash for date types when certain memory conditions were present. This issue has been resolved. A NULL condition in fetch operations could cause SAP Integer values to crash. This issue has been resolved. SAP data types NUMC, DATS and TIMS can now arrive from SAP as text. These are now new connection properties for the connector, controllable in the SAP Connection form in DECS and LEI and available as properties of the SAP LCConnection object in Lotus Script (LC LSX). The Lotus Script properties are: SAP_NUMC_TEXT, SAP_DATS_TEXT and SAP_TIMS_TEXT. To activate the functionality, set the corresponding property to 1. The default behavior is to not force these data types to be converted to text. Select statement strings can now contain quoted substrings, such as DESCRIPTION="MY TEXT "SUBSTRING" ". The iSeries/i5/OS version of the connector was ported to ASCII from EBCDIC. SAP no longer supports the EBCDIC RFCSDK, with which the SAP is built. The default code page for the connector on iSeries/i5/OS is IBMCP819. The LCSTREAMFMT_NATIVE variable has been redefined to this value on iSeries/i5/OS. Other character sets also require this value to reflect the proper code page. The SAP connection form now allows for this value to be selected from a list of all possible values. This resolution corrects several character corruption issues associated with non-US character sets. The Windows-based installation program now supports Windows 2003. The RFC_READ_TABLE feature now correctly handles SAP data types INT, INT1 and INT2. > Lotus Domino Mail Transfer Agent for SAP R/3 < The Object Server now allows multiple instances of the same PROGID. This is useful in Domino clustering. The Object Server can now process a comma at the end of a list of recipients. The Object Client has improved handling of Domino 5/6 mixed environments. It has improvements for finding the correct SAP objects to deliver for return receipts and confirmations. The Object Client has improved handling of strings that are too long for SAP structures. > Domino Access to SAP Business Workflow < If an SAP password has expired, check for multiple messages that may be returned from SAP. ***************************************************************************** Under the copyright laws, neither the documentation nor the software may be copied, photocopied, reproduced, translated, or reduced to any electronic medium or machine-readable form, in whole or in part, without the prior written consent of IBM Corporation, except in the manner described in the documentation or the applicable licensing agreement governing the use of the software.
