The LEI server acts as a client to your external data server. - Run the appropriate connectivity test program from the Domino server before running LEI. The program names are listed below by platform: Issue the following command for Windows (NT, 2000, 2003): ndctest Issue the following command for UNIX (AIX, Linux, and Solaris): dctest Issue the following command for iSeries: RUNDOMCMD SERVER(your_dom_server) CMD(CALL PGM(QDOMINOxxx/DCTEST)) BATCH(*NO) where xxx is the Domino release (654 OR 605) Command window help provides information for using the connectivity test program. C) Installation and Migration Considerations See the LEI Installation Guide (leiig.nsf) supplied with LEI and available as both a .nsf file and an HTML browseable at Lotus Documentation site (http://www.lotus.com/ldd/doc) on the Enterprise Integrator product page for LEI installation and migration instructions. See below for related considerations. D) Installing LEI - General Instructions See the Installation Guide (leiig.nsf) supplied with LEI and also available as both a .nsf file and an HTML browseable at the Lotus Documentation site (http://www.lotus.com/ldd/doc) on the Enterprise Integrator product page for complete LEI installation and migration instructions. See below for related considerations. Before installing to a UNIX platform, you must do the following: - Set the correct access controls in the names.nsf file on the Domino server. - Establish the correct access rights in the Notes ID file. - Ensure that all needed environment variables are set and exported. - Ensure that you have loaded and configured X Window system software. If you will be installing LEI to a Notes client, set the Notes ID to share its password with other Notes-based systems, as documented in the LEI installation guide. To avoid multiple promptings for password, ensure that your Notes client is running during LEI install. E) Uninstalling LEI The LEI uninstall process is explained fully in the Installation Guide (leiig.nsf) supplied with LEI and also available as both a .nsf file and an HTML browseable at the Lotus Documentation site (http://www.lotus.com/ldd/doc) on the Enterprise Integrator product page. F) Operational Considerations LEI Tech Notes and other user information can be found at http://www-3.ibm.com/software/lotus/support/integration/support.html. The Lotus Connector LotusScript Extensions Guide (lsxlc6.nsf) and Lotus Connectors and Connectivity Guide (lccon6.nsf) are not supplied with LEI. You can obtain them at the LDD Documentation Library http://www.lotus.com/ldd/doc or with your Domino release. - Although LEI does not write to the keyfilename field in the notes.ini file, it does access it. For LEI to work correctly, the id name specified in the keyfilename field MUST be of a relative path. Using an absolute path, or fully-qualified name, for the sever.id or user.id value in that field is not supported. For example, this is a valid name for LEI use: keyfilename = server.id This is not: keyfilename = /opt/lotus/notesdata/server.id - DB2 Personal Edition is limited to a single workstation and single DB connection. - The Lotus Connector for Notes option Fetch View Column Data on the Field Selection tab is not operational. A workaround is as below: 1. Click the Field Selections tab and select Fetch Document Items. 2. Click the Data Transformation tab and use @formulas to modify the values as you would in the view column. For example, for a field fullname containing Doe, John type: select @all; FIELD fname := @right(lname; ","); FIELD lname := @left(lname; ","); This would correspond to the following: column fname with a column formula of @right(lname; ",") column lname with a formula @left(lname; ",") G) What's Been Fixed in LEI Release 6.5.5 The following issues have been resolved in LEI release 6.5.5: Activities: -- The Archive activity may fail to complete without generating an error message. This has been corrected. -- Before all scheduled activities are executed, the next day's schedule is executed. This has been corrected. -- If multiple run times are scheduled for several days all times scheduled will run except on the last scheduled day. On the last scheduled day, only the first scheduled time will run and not the other times scheduled. This has been corrected. -- In a Notes to Notes replication, updates to the last document are not saved. This has been corrected. -- Replicating a multivalue field to a delimited text field is unsuccessful when there is an all whitespace element. This has been corrected. -- The replication activity generates an "Error: Data overflow in field 'KeyFieldName'" error when using a negative INT KEY record with an OLE database. This has been corrected. -- Replicating a multivalue field that contains a 'space' as its value replicates every time instead of just the first time. This has been corrected. -- On i5/OS, some LEI data management activities do not complete. This has been corrected. -- On i5/OS, and using the Virtual Fields activity, the user is unable to create a virtual attachment table using the utility in the activity document. This has been corrected. -- Browsing for a Notes database that resides on a UNIX system, from an LEI activity that does not, can cause the Domino server on the UNIX system to crash. This has been corrected. -- Running a Direct Transfer activity that has a source "Text" connection and a target "Notes" connection was problematic. This has been corrected. -- In a replication activity, if the data value in a Notes connection source is blank (on Windows system), the data value in a DB2 connection target is set to not null (on i5/)S system), and the "map nulls to defaults" option is checked, the system may generate a NULLS value error. This has been corrected. -- For LEI replication using a Notes connection, the timestamp setting does not work if the Domino server is in a different timezone than the LEI server. This has been corrected. -- LEI data management activities, when used together with the Order metaconnector, can run out of memory and display an "unable to allocate memory" error. Because LEI uses Domino memory management, the Order metaconnector will fetch an entire result set into memory, causing memory problems. Users can configure LEI, DECS or LSXLC to use standard OS memory calls. A new notes.ini variable EIUseOSMemory=1 or EIUseOSMemory=0eiuseodmemory will cause all LEI, DECS and LS LSX to use OS memory calls instead of Domino memory calls. -- In a Virtual Fields activity that maps a SQL database to a Notes database, selecting the "Use Multivalue data fields" can cause a "field count mismatch" error when you edit a multivalue field in the Notes connection. Using a non-multivalue field does not produce the error. This has been corrected. Connectors: -- The columnlist field entries are limited to 30 characters in a DB2 connection document. This has been corrected. -- When a view name is specified in the Notes connection document, and the allow create/alter field is also checked, an LEI replication activity may return an "Error: Invalid document handle or ID" error. This has been corrected. -- On i5/OS, ODBC branded drivers do not work. This has been corrected. Other: -- Running an LEI replication activity and then using the "Replace design" function on the database causes the LEI replication activity to fail. This has been corrected. -- Several problems with DST time changes have been fixed. -- Several launch problems with the migration tool have been fixed. -- LEI does not function as a Windows Service on a remote workstation. This has been corrected. H) Documentation Errata - The readme.txt file kitted with the release should have contained the following statement in section B -- revised January 10, 2006: DataDirect ODBC drivers can be used with the Lotus Connector for ODBC. These include the Data Direct Sybase, Oracle, Informix, DB2, and SQL Server ODBC wire protocols. LEI and DECS support the supplied Lotus- branded DataDirect ODBC driver. LEI recommends using the Lotus-branded DataDirect ODBC Wire Prototol Drivers Release 5.0.
